Annex Auction’s parent company, Witherells, was founded by Brad Witherell in 1969 as an antique appraiser and antique dealer. In 1983, Brad Witherell held his first Western Americana Auction at a hotel ballroom in San Francisco. Brad enlisted his 16 year old son, Brian Witherell, to manage the auction’s logistics. Brian’s role in the company steadily increased up until 2024 when he and his wife took over ownership.

Two years prior, Brian Witherell launched the website AnnexAuctions.com and held its inaugural auction on October 17, 2022. The goal of the first annexauctions.com sale was to offer single owner collections, themed auctions, and various owner sales of curated property to create interesting sales of diverse and desirable material for the casual collector who wants to know that the items they are buying are authentic and real. Items are always offered without reserve. Focus is on interesting shippable items, which are always free to pick up locally in Sacramento, or can be shipped through our in house shipping service at affordable prices.

Brian Fogarty

Brian studied at the University of California, Davis and holds a B.A. in U.S. History. His favorite category in the auction world is ephemera: specializing in Books, Comics, Trading Cards, Art Prints, and Historical Documents. In his free time he enjoys being outdoors, running, hiking, and bike riding.

Tatum DeMarco

Tatum DeMarco is our Cataloguer who joined Annex in 2022, after graduating from CSU – Sacramento with a B.F.A. in Interior Architecture and B.A. in Art History. Growing up she often spent time with her grandmother Ruth, who managed spaces throughout antique stores in San Bernardino and planted the seed of interest in her granddaughter. Tatum feels joining Annex brought that chapter of her life full-circle. Outside of work, she enjoys going to concerts, museums, and the movies, as well as collecting physical media (especially records) and spending time with her tuxedo cat, Edgar Allan Poe.
